Oh pleeze !!!!
US deserter turns self in to Military
I guess the main stream media has finally gotten wind of deserters in the US army. They highlight this as if it is the only case. The truth is that many US soldiers have deserted. Many more are thinking about it but dont have the balls to go aginst Bush's war machinery.
Why desert the war in iraq?
1. The war in Iraq has no forseeable end and will continue indefinately. Some say for the next five years.
2. The war in Iraq is illegal and has no moral basis. For example Vietnam was against the commies, Iwo Jima against Jap imperialism.
The Iraq war is being fought is.......to stop saddam's WMD program- No WMD found
.......against terrorism - Terrorism continues unabatted and there is no evidence of Iraq- terorism link
The truth is this war has no moral justification.
Which is why spc Anderson asked himself "Who the fuck am I bullshitting?"
Bush probably thinks all deserters should be sent to Guantanamo bay. After all he is the one who said "If you are not with us you are against us". To spc anderson "I guess you know which side you are on now!! Good luck Sincerely
To quote CNN here is what the enlightened young deserter had to say

Excerpt from CNN >
Spc. Darrell Anderson, 24, said he deserted the Army last year because he could no longer fight in what he believes is an illegal war.
"I feel that by resisting I made up for the things I did in Iraq," Anderson said during a press briefing shortly before he turned himself in at nearby Fort Knox. "I feel I made up for the sins I committed in this war."

I could not agree more with what you had to say in your blog, but according to USA Today the desertion rate for the United States military has gone down since September 11, 2003. USA Today's figures show that the "Army, Navy and Air Force reported 7,978 desertions in 2001, compared with 3,456 in 2005." While desertion may be low with the events of September 11, 2003, it is with most certainty that the longer the immoral war in Iraq continues the more desertion that the arms services will experience.
I don't agree with the war but I do feel a great deal of sadness for the American soldier.yes, there are some who are gung ho and power hungry, who may abuse the nature of their roles, but there are many others who are not like this. There are some who may endure their pain quietly for either a moral or social obligation. I am not suprised that many would try to flee that hopeless situation. What kills me is the fact that these martyr's existances will soon be forgotten, especially since we are getting closer and closer to an election year...
